About:

The Sea of Ideas exhibition is a presentation of the work of students from the Furniture Design Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. It showcases unique seating designs created in response to a semester assignment. Designing experimental forms and utilizing recycled materials are key elements that the students employed in creating furniture with an innovative character. This exhibition offers an opportunity to engage with creativity, design responsibility, and a sustainable approach to furniture design.

The "Sea of Ideas" exhibition showcases the remarkable achievements of students from the Furniture Design Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. It is a response to a semester assignment focused on designing experimental seating as a form.

Furniture design required exploring the process of shaping forms and experiencing it through prototyping. By utilizing the available materials in the studio, students immersed themselves in the creative design process, drawing inspiration from the possibilities offered by the materials. The aim was to design furniture that aligned with the concepts of "Experiencing Seating" and "Experimental Seat." It was worth discovering the experiments in form, function, and materials undertaken to create extraordinary seats.

Designers had to consider material and technological challenges, primarily employing recycled resources. The pursuit of sustainable design was paramount. The works presented at the exhibition consist of 80% reclaimed materials, emphasizing the students' design responsibility.

However, the "Sea of Ideas" exhibition is not limited to showcasing finished works alone. It is a journey through successive design stages, from conception to collaborative design and furniture construction. The recipient and the environment in which the furniture is to be placed were important factors taken into account. Ergonomics, functionality, and aesthetics were key aspects shaping the designs.

It is not only a presentation of the creativity and design skills of the students but also a demonstration of their commitment to responsible furniture design. By utilizing reclaimed materials and experimenting, students bring the value of sustainable design to public awareness. The "Sea of Ideas" exhibition is an inspiring testament to their passion, experiments, and storytelling abilities through furniture.

This exceptional exhibition is a meeting of ideas, inspiration, and experimentation. The students from the Furniture Design Studio prove that furniture design can be not only practical but also filled with innovation and creativity.

It is a remarkable opportunity to witness how students transform ideas into reality, creating unique seats while promoting the values of sustainable design.
